Masterclass Application & Biography

How to apply

The Masterclass will take place from 1 to 6 April 2024 in Trani (Italy, Puglia). The program for the lessons of the masterclass is free.

Requirements:
The Masterclass is open to violinists of every age and nationalities

OTHER INFORMATION:
– inscription fee: 150 euros
– masterclass tuition fee: 450 euros
– Optional in add to masterclass, cost for playing as soloist with orchestra: 650 euros
In add of the masterclass, every student has the possibility to play at the final concerts as soloist with orchestra. 
The students can choose among various concerti (any Violin Concerto with orchestral instrumentation such as the Mozart Concerti).

Participants can choose any other piece with a similar orchestral instrumentation.

The deadline for sending an application to the Masterclass is the 20th of December 2023.

STAYING AND EATING in TRANI:
The organization of the Masterclass will give you the possibility to sleep and have full meals with
very cheap costs.

HOW TO GET TO TRANI:
– Airport in Bari (40 km far from Trani) and transfer to Trani with train
– Rome airport and train from Roma Termini station to Trani

HOW TO PAY:
All the payment fees must be made when you send your application to attend the Masterclass

About

In 2021, Robert was nominated four times for the prestigious Opus Klassik Awards (Echo Klassik) in the same nomination with musicians such as singer Andrea Bocelli and cellist Yo-Yo Ma.

 Robert Stepanian was born in Yerevan (Armenia) and started playing the violin at the age of seven with Tatyana Vorobyova (student of Boris Goldstein) in Moscow.

He continued his education at the Music College of Moscow Conservatory with professor Zoria Shikhmurzaeva and at the Moscow State Conservatory with professor Ara Bogdanyan (student of David Oistrakh). Robert is a laureate of international competitions and awards in Switzerland, Spain, Russia, Ukraine.

As a soloist and chamber musician, Robert gives concert more than 50 countries.He played in venues such as the Carnegie Hall (New York), Salle Gaveau (Paris), Danish Radio Concert House,Oslo Konzerthous, Tchaikovsky Hall (Moscow), the Pablo Casal Concert Hall (Spain) the Moscow International Music House, the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory etc.

His festivals appearances include the Mendelssohn Festival, Erl Festspiele (Austria), Midis de Minimes (Belgium), Great Names of Art in memory of (Kogan, Gilels, Rostropovich) (Russia), Juventudes Musicales (Spain), Beethoven Festival (Germany), Pupligne Classique (Switzerland), Tyrolean Beethoven Days (Austria), Matthias Kendlinger Festival, Festival Internacional de Musica de Esmeraldas (Ecuador), Guadalajara International Music Festival and Festival Virtuoso in Mexico and others.

Robert has received a number of grants and awards: Gianni Bergamo Classical Music Award, from the Russian Performing Arts Foundation, the World Music Fund and the medal prize from Irina Arkhipova’s Foundation (2010). He also received a diploma for “Achievements in Musical Art” from the International Academy of “Creative Endeavours”.

In 2006 he founded the Moscow Classicus Trio and remained a member until 2014.

His recording of Sonate of Beethoven  and Franck with pianist Ashot Khachatourian was released on the Azur Classical label in 2015. Recently Robert Stepanian’s recording was broadcasted on BBC Radio, France Musique, Espase 2, ARD and others.

Robert gives masterclasses in Germany,France,Austria,United States and South America.He served as adjudicator in different violin competitions in Italy,Spain and Belgium including Ysaye International Violin Competition in Belgium.

His students successfully pass auditions and work in such orchestras as Philharmonia Orchestra (UK), BBC Symphony Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and others.

In 2019 austrian composer Matthias Kendlinger composed violin concerto named “Galaxy” especially for Robert Stepanian and had dedicated to him. His recording of Galaxy violin concerto was released in austrian DaCapo label in 2020. In 2019 Robert with cellist Francisco Vila and pianist Ashot Khachatourian founded Fine ART Trio.In 2020 composer Eduardo Florencia composed and dedicated to Robert his new op.98 for violin and orchestra which calls “Souvenirs d’Artsakh”.

Robert plays on a C.Bergonzi violin.
